On the Job | Interview Fashion Tips

In my 24 years of life I have had my fair share of jobs and interviews, and with summer here many of you might be looking for a job to fill your time. Well I know first hand that it can be hard picking out the perfect interview outfit, so decided to give some of my interview fashion tips.

Black and White Always Wins: Honestly, nothing looks more chic than wearing a simply black and white suit. Black slacks and a white button are usually two pieces most people have, if not should have, in their wardrobe, and they fit the professional attire description.

Put Away the Jeans: I know your favorite pair of jeans might make you feel the best but it is usually never professional to wear jeans to an interview. Sure a job at Forever 21 might be more causal then a job at a law firm but you still want show your future employer that you took this interview seriously and can dressed in your best no matter the job.

Pop That Color: I know I said that black and white is the best choice when dressing for an interview but if you are simply someone that has to wear some sort of color then adding a pop color is fine. I wouldn’t suggested wearing a very bright or bold color since don’t want that color to be loud but pastels are always nice. A baby blue shirt or light pink flats are a easy way to wear color with out ruining your interview appropriate outfit.

When in Doubt Pin It Out: Finally, if these tips haven’t completely helped you come up with the perfect interview outfit then try going on Pinterest. You can find tons of fashion inspiration with just one search.

I hope these tips helped in someway or another. Don’t forget to share your interview fashion tips in the comments below.

US vs UK Covers

Book covers change all the time and in different countries there are different covers for the novels that we know and love here in America. I wanted to pick between US and UK covers and choose which one I like more.

Paper Towns by John Green: I am not against the American cover but I prefer the UK cover because I think it tells the story better.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith: Again I would pick the UK cover since it is more bright and colorful.

Divergent by Veronica Roth: I am very thorn since I like the US cover a lot but I am a big quote fan so I am going to have to go with the UK version. I just think it paints a better picture of the story.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers/Philosophers Stone by J.K. Rowling: In this case, I would go with the US version. Although, I like the cover of the UK version it is too animated looking for me. I will not that I like the newer USA covers better than the original.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver: First, I want to note that I know that this isn’t the original US cover but it is newest one and I just love it. The UK cover is pretty but the new US version steals my heart.

There are 5 US vs UK Cover let me know which one you would choose in the comments below.

Fashion Apps | Top Favorites

If I’m being totally honest, I would have to admit that I’m probably on my phone 60% of the day. It is an unhealthy obsession but there are some good things that comes smart phone like instant communication and of course apps. I use that standard apps such as Twitter and Instagram but I also use apps for shopping so I thought I’d share some of my favorite shopping apps.

Shopkick: If I’m being completely honest I actually forget to use this app a lot of the time, but it is a great money saver. Basically you receive points towards gift cards just buy checking in to stores and scanning items. You can get gift cards to Starbucks, Sephora and more.

Depop: This app is great for buying and selling fashion items as well as other stuff. I love seeing what people are selling and will, pretty soon, start selling some fashion pieces myself.

The Hunt: I am obsessed with this fashion app. The purpose of this app is to help user find items or fashion piece they’ve seen but don’t know where to buy. You can upload a photo of any clothing item, accessory or even book other users help by adding finds to the product to where you can purchase it.

Retail Me Not: I love saving money with coupons but I hate carrying around a bunch of coupons which is why I love this app. By using this app you can find the latest deals and coupons that can be redeemed from your phone so no more carrying around paper coupons.

I am very particular with the apps I download but I’d love to hear about other shopping apps in the comments below.

Wet n Wild Coverall Primer vs NYC Perfecting Primer | Beauty Battle

I have never been a foundation primer person but over the last few months I have loved the way my foundation looks and last with primer. I have tested out to drugstore face primers so in the post I’ll be pitting them against each other and letting you know which one I prefer.

First up is the Wet n Wild Coverall Primer Base, this comes from the same line as the Coverall Foundation I reviewed and the .84 FL. OZ. retails for $5. I tested out this primer first and it claims to smooth out pores, fills lines, brightens skin and evens skin tone. The primer is just a white liquid but does have sunscreen smell to it which is kind of off putting. However, I liked how easily this primer went on the skin and it didn’t feel tacky or drying. The major problem I had with this product is that it broke me out which is not something I want in a product.

Now we’ll talk about the NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer in the shade 684. This product contains 1 FL OZ and is only $4; I think that is a pretty good for a face primer. This one claims to do pretty much the same as the Wet n Wild one but is supposed to leave the skin feeling silky and moisturized too. I don’t get smell from the primer yet I will mention that this is not a matte primer and does have some shimmer. I’m not a fan of unnecessary shimmer but I do know that some people like that look. Also, it is not a moisturizing formula at all so it dries out my already dry skin.

Overall, neither of them worked wonderfully for me but with its faults I prefer the Wet n Wild primer a bit more. I would probably still be using the Coverall Primer if it hadn’t caused breakouts. I have nothing against the NYC Perfecting Primer yet it leaves my skin feeling dehydrated I can only use it when I mix it with moisturizer. Let me know your favorite primer and leave any product recommendations in the comments below.

Baking Your Makeup?!

Okay, sure the term might sound a little odd but baking makeup is a technique beauty lovers are obsessing over. This beauty method has been around for ages but baking has become more popular thanks to Instagram, since makeup wears everywhere are trying to get the most selfie worthy skin possible.

So what is baking your makeup and how do you do it? Basically all you do is take a translucent powder on a fluffy brush, without tapping off of the excess product you just place it on top of your foundation and concealer. This allows your body heat to warm up the product and really help it skin into the skin and conceal your pores. Remember after 5 to 10 minutes to sweep away in noticeable excess powder on the face so you don’t have a flour face all day.

This is a great technique for anyone that has a little extra time to spend in the morning because it is a lengthy process. The baking method will help you makeup last longer so it is great for special occasions or bridal makeup. However, dry skin girls beware because it is a lot of powder on the face at once if you’ve got dryer skin it could end up giving you cake face.

I hope this quick over view of this beauty trend helped you in some way and you can find some great baking makeup tutorials on YouTube. Let me know in the comments below your favorite beauty trend or if you’ve ever baked your makeup.
